Full Face Mask Diver Course in Queensland

• SDI E-Learning & Certification: Access to official SDI Full Face Mask Diver e-Learning course materials and digital certification card upon course completion.
• Instructor Guidance: Professional instruction and direct supervision from a certified SDI Full Face Mask Instructor.
• 2 Ocean / Open Water Dives: Practical training dives dedicated to mastering full face mask operations, buoyancy, and emergency procedures in open water.
• Full Face Mask Rental Unit: Use of an integrated full face mask system for the duration of pool and open-water training sessions.

Phase 1: Digital E-Learning (Prior to In-Person Training)

• Complete the online SDI Full Face Mask Diver e-Learning modules, covering mask design, gas consumption considerations, equalizing techniques, surface breathing valves (ABVs), and emergency procedures.

Day 1: Classroom Briefing, Pool Practice & Open Water Dives

• 08:00 AM – Orientation & Gear Setup
  Meet at the dive center for course registration, mask fitting, strap adjustment, and learning equalizing mechanisms (nose blocks) inside the full face mask.

• 09:30 AM – Confined Water / Pool Practice
  Practice clearing water from the mask, switching to a backup/alternate air source regulator, removing and replacing the full face mask underwater, and using the surface breathing valve.

• 11:30 AM – Lunch Break & Transfer to Dive Site

• 01:00 PM – Open Water Dive 1 (Basic Operations & Buoyancy)
  Execute controlled descent, practice equalizing, surface breathing valve operation at the surface, mask clearing, and fine-tuning trim and buoyancy while wearing a full face mask.

• 03:00 PM – Open Water Dive 2 (Emergency Protocols & Out-of-Air Drills)
  Perform out-of-air drills, primary gas failure procedures, switching to an auxiliary mask and octopus regulator, and out-of-gas buddy sharing underwater.

• 04:30 PM – Gear Rinse & Certification Finalization

  • Rinse mask seals and valves with fresh water, log your full face mask dives, and process your official SDI Full Face Mask Diver certification.

Suitable for divers with Open Water Diver (or hold a qualifying certification from another agency) age 16 (with Parental Consent) years old or older. If you haven’t dived in over 12 months, a quick "Scuba Review" or Refresher session is required for your safety.

Not suitable for pregnant women or anyone that has a history of certain medical conditions (especially those affecting the respiratory, circulatory, or nervous systems—e.g., severe asthma, epilepsy, recent major surgery, or heart conditions)

A completed Medical Statement is required. If any "Yes" answers are marked, a physician's written clearance is mandatory.
