This 10-day SSI Freediving Instructor Course is set in Lake Eacham, in a volcanic crater lake! This is one Australia's most accessible freediving spots with 68 meters of depth just off the shore. This freshwater lake is protected from wind, currents and of course absolutely no swell making it the ultimate freediving location for your training.

This extensive course is for anyone who eats, sleeps, and breathes Freediving, for those who want to level up, and for anyone who is looking for the opportunity to earn an income doing what they love and be able to teach freediving anywhere in the world.

Every day there will be theory workshops, pool sessions, open water sessions, and interactive teaching sessions where we will look at real-world scenarios for you to gain the ability to recognise common mistakes that occur during freediving courses and how to help and problem-solve with students to overcome these issues.

Professional and supportive level one course

I recently completed a Level One freediving course with Freediving Central and I couldn’t recommend it highly enough. The course was exceptionally well run, with a strong emphasis on safety and relaxation rather than being pushed to go deep or pressured into anything you’re not comfortable with. This approach created a genuinely supportive learning environment and allowed confidence to build naturally.

Day one was packed with knowledge. Dan’s teaching style is calm, clear, and highly professional . He has a wealth of knowledge in the industry and shared some very insightful stories with us. I learnt a wide range of skills that have already made a big difference.

Day two focused on putting skills learnt into practice with freedive instructor Tom. He was extremely patient and very aware of everyone’s individual ability levels, adapting the session accordingly. Tom took the time to tailor advice specifically to my needs and offered a lot of practical tips and guidance throughout the day, which I found incredibly valuable.

Since completing the course, my spearfishing has genuinely improved — I’m diving deeper as a result of better technique ,my breath hold has improved significantly and I'm feeling far more relaxed and comfortable in the water overall.

Freediving Central is a highly reputable organisation, and coming from the spearfishing community I’ve heard many people speak extremely highly of this course. Having now completed it, I completely understand why. If you’re thinking about booking, do it — you won’t be disappointed.

Unforgettable blue whale diving experience

Our experience with Freediving Central was totally unforgettable. We went on a trip with Dan and his crew to Timor-Leste to see the blue whales. Luckily, we also got to swim with a pod of sperm whales! We had incredible, once-in-a-lifetime encounters, and everything was done respectfully. Freediving Central’s partner dive operator, Compass Diving, was also very mindful of the rules to keep the animals safe.

Freediving Central was helpful and organized from start to finish. Outside of the whale-searching and snorkeling/freediving, everything was handled for us — restaurant reservations, transportation, etc. It’s essential to mention that Dan booked us a Hello Kitty and Jesus–themed party bus once (you’re an icon).

The Freediving Central crew and the other guests were so lovely (in a chaotic, endearingly unhinged sort of way; even off the boat, the trip was such a great time.

10/10 recommend. Hope I get to see you all again soon!

Incredible blue whale diving adventure

We had the most incredible experience diving with blue whales in Timor Leste with Dan and the Freediving Central team. The whole trip was well organised and communication was great from our initial booking until the end of the trip. We had 5 days on the water with the whales and were lucky enough to have the chance to swim with many of them as well as some sperm whales - one of the greatest experiences we have ever had. Another highlight was meeting the other people on the trip - a fantastic group who we have remained in contact with after getting back home. We honestly can’t do justice to how memorable and wonderful the trip was in this review. If you’re looking for a unique and exciting experience we would definitely recommend getting in touch with Dan and the team at Freediving Central.

Awesome time with patient instructors

had such an awesome time with Freediving Central. The instructors are not only super knowledgeable but also really patient, which made me feel safe and supported the whole way through. They explained everything so clearly that I felt relaxed and confident, even when I was trying something new.

The vibe there is professional yet welcoming, and you can tell they genuinely care about helping you progress at your own pace. It’s fun, encouraging, and never feels rushed or intimidating.

Fun first time freediving in Bali

My first time going freediving and I had so much fun. The trip was held at Amed, Bali which was so beautiful. I loved that the trips schedule allowed a mix of diving sessions, yoga and relaxation time.
