The Basic Scuba Diver program is a one‑day introduction to scuba diving, perfect for beginners who want to experience the underwater world without committing to a full certification. Participants start with a theory session and pool training to learn equipment use, breathing techniques, and buoyancy control.
Once comfortable, they complete two shallow reef dives to a maximum depth of 12 meters under the supervision of professional instructors. Koh Tao’s calm bays and clear waters provide the ideal classroom, with opportunities to see tropical reef fish, corals, and turtles. This program is ideal for travellers short on time, nervous beginners, or those curious about scuba.Â
Certification can be credited toward the Open Water Diver course if continued within six months, making it a flexible steppingstone.

- 1 Open Water Ocean Dive: One guided dive on a shallow coral reef (up to a maximum depth of 12 meters / 40 feet).
- Pool / Confined-Water Session: An introductory shallow-water briefing and practice session to get comfortable breathing underwater and using gear.
- Full Rental Equipment: Complete scuba gear setup (mask, fins, wetsuit, regulator, and BCD) for the entire experience.
- Professional Supervision: Direct, close supervision by a certified SSI Instructor.
- Boat Transportation: Transport on Big Blue's dive boats to Koh Tao's shallow dive sites.
- Diving Insurance: Basic scuba diving coverage during your scheduled course activity.
