This four-day liveaboard leaves Tap Lamu Pier in Khao Lak the night before diving starts and covers the classic Similan and Surin route in 14 dives. Day 1 works the central Similans, Day 2 heads north to Koh Bon and the Koh Tachai pinnacle, Day 3 is spent at the Surin Islands and three dives on Richelieu Rock, and Day 4 finishes at Koh Bon or the local wrecks.
Wake at 06:30 and roll in before breakfast while the reef is still quiet. Weave through granite boulders in the Similans, then wait off the Koh Tachai pinnacle at sunset for a manta to sweep up from the deep. At Richelieu Rock you get a full day on one horseshoe of soft coral, time to slow down for seahorses and cuttlefish on one dive and watch the blue for a whale shark on the next. Groups are never more than four divers to a guide.
Trip Highlights & Key Regional Features
- Richelieu Rock: three dives in one day on Thailand's best-known pinnacle, with the chance of whale sharks and giant oceanic manta rays.
- Koh Bon and Koh Tachai: the route's manta spots, with a sunset dive on the Koh Tachai pinnacle.
- Central Similans: Hideaway Bay and the Tuna Wreck, West of Eden, Three Trees and Christmas Point, with leopard sharks on the sand and granite swim-throughs.
- Surin Islands: an early-morning dive in the quieter northern park before Richelieu Rock.
- Small groups: a maximum of four divers per guide, and no surface swims.
- Donald Duck Bay: a beach stop on Similan Island #8 with an optional climb to the viewpoint.
