Itinerary
The timeline takes approximately 5 to 6 hours, usually beginning in the morning to enjoy calm seas and the best natural lighting.
- 08:00 AM – Check-in & Equipment Fitting: Meet your instructor at the dive center. Complete a brief registration and health questionnaire before matching your scuba equipment sizes. Your instructor will walk you through basic diving safety rules.
- 08:45 AM – Dive 1: The Sanctuary Slope (Location: Jemeluk Bay): Walk straight into the calm, clear waters of the bay from the shore. In waist-deep water, you will practice 3 to 4 basic skills (like clearing water out of your mask and reclaiming your regulator) until you feel completely relaxed.
- 09:15 AM – The Temple Tour: Once comfortable, descend to a maximum of 12 meters to float weightlessly over Jemeluk’s submerged coral statues and underwater temple, observing macro critters and colorful reef fish.
- 10:15 AM – Surface Interval & Transfer: Exit the water, dry off, and enjoy light snacks. Board the transport vehicle for a scenic 20-minute drive along the coast to the neighboring village of Tulamben.
- 11:15 AM – Dive 2: History in the Blue (Location: USAT Liberty Wreck): Gear up on the black volcanic beach. Execute an easy shore entry directly into the shallowest section of the massive, coral-encrusted World War II shipwreck.
- 11:30 AM – Exploring the Wreckage: Glide safely around the upper structure of the ship between 5 and 12 meters deep. Keep your eyes peeled for giant resident turtles, schooling jackfish, and the giant Napoleon wrasse patrolling the hull.
- 12:30 PM – Return & Debrief: Head back to the dive center. Rinse your gear, review the marine identification books to log the creatures you encountered, and celebrate your first successful underwater experience!
