Divers for Climate: Connecting Divers to Protect What They Love

Divers for Climate: Connecting Divers to Protect What They Love

Diving changes people.

The first time you descend onto a reef, glide over coral gardens, or lock eyes with marine life - something shifts. At Dive Bookings, we believe that connection is powerful. Because people protect what they love. That’s why we’re proud to highlight the work of Divers for Climate - a growing movement mobilising the dive community to take meaningful climate action.

Who Are Divers for Climate

Divers for Climate is an Australian initiative focused on empowering divers to protect marine ecosystems through education, reef restoration and community engagement.

Their mission is simple: Activate the dive community to support healthier oceans.

Through coral restoration, climate awareness and hands-on projects, they are turning diver passion into real-world impact.

As divers, we spend much of our time beneath the surface, exploring the wonders of our underwater world. This unique perspective puts us on the frontlines, often being the first to witness the impacts of climate change on our oceans. This is what makes our voices so powerful.

Why This Matters to Divers

Divers are in a unique position. We don’t just hear about climate change — we see its effects underwater:

  • Coral bleaching
  • Changing reef structures
  • Shifts in marine biodiversity
  • Storm and temperature impacts

The ocean is not an abstract idea to divers. It’s a lived experience. And that connection creates responsibility.

From Experience to Action

Divers for Climate bridges the gap between awareness and action.

Their programs include:

  • Coral nursery and restoration projects
  • Reef monitoring initiatives
  • Community education
  • Climate literacy for divers

They provide opportunities for divers to deepen their understanding of the ecosystems they explore.

Where Dive Bookings Fits In

Dive Bookings was built to make discovering and booking dive experiences easier — globally.

We connect divers with:

  • Scuba diving trips
  • Freediving experiences
  • Spearfishing charters
  • Dive courses
  • Liveaboards

And while we are first and foremost a booking platform, we believe something bigger happens when people experience the ocean firsthand.

Exposure builds connection.
Connection builds care.
Care builds protection.

By helping more people explore the underwater world, we contribute to a global community that values healthy oceans.

A national survey from Divers for Climate, revealed over 91 per cent of divers have personally felt the impacts of climate change.

“My story is just one of many in the face of climate change, but together, these stories show that when we share our experiences and combine our efforts, we create the momentum needed to drive real change. Collective action is powerful, and it’s the only way forward in the fight to protect our oceans.”

The Future of Diving

The future of diving isn’t just about new destinations or deeper wrecks.

It’s about:

  • Stronger ocean awareness
  • Informed divers
  • Responsible operators
  • A community that understands the fragility of reefs

Organisations like Divers for Climate help lead that charge.

We’re proud to spotlight their work and encourage our global dive community to learn more.

Divers for Climate launched the “I’m a Diver for Climate” campaign, which quickly gained hundreds of signatures from divers and support from numerous dive-tourism businesses and organisations. The campaign calls for public commitments from politicians and decision-makers to protect our oceans and the dive tourism industry from climate impacts. The next five years are critical for our oceans, and we need to make sure those in power join us in protecting what we love.
