By taking these courses together, you will gain additional hands-on practice, refine your skills under instructor supervision, and earn two recognized certifications in a single streamlined program.
What the Combo Class Includes
- SSI Open Water Diver Certification: Comprehensive training covering online academics, confined pool sessions, and 4 open water checkout dives to certify you to dive down to 60 feet (18 meters) globally.
- Specialty Certification Add-On: Pair your Open Water training with SSI Enriched Air Nitrox to expand your underwater skills right from the start.
- Expanded Practical Training: Enjoy extra time in the pool and during your open water dives to hone your trim, weighting, and dive planning techniques.

Step 1: Digital E-Learning (Prior to In-Person Class)

Complete all online academic modules for both the SSI Open Water Diver and Enriched Air Nitrox courses at home before classroom/pool sessions begin.
Step 2: Pool & Classroom Sessions (3–4 Days)
- Option A (Weekday - Mon–Thu, 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM): Knowledge review, water treading/swim assessment, Nitrox gas analysis/computer setup workshops, and indoor heated pool sessions mastering equipment setup, buoyancy control, and emergency skills.
- Option B (Weekend - Fri 6–10 PM, Sat 8 AM–5 PM, Sun 8 AM–12 PM): Comprehensive weekend block covering classroom theory, Nitrox practical skills, and hands-on pool sessions.
Step 3: Open Water Checkout Dives (Saturday & Sunday)
- Saturday (3 Open Water Dives, approx. 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM): Head to a local dive lake (e.g., Mammoth Lake or Blue Lagoon) to perform ocean/lake skill evaluations and complete Dives 1, 2, and 3.
- Sunday (2 Open Water Dives, approx. 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM): Complete final checkout Dives 4 and 5, demonstrating navigation, buoyancy, and safety procedures.
- Debrief: Log your dives, receive instructor sign-offs, and finalize your dual Open Water Diver & Nitrox certifications.
