This northbound expedition begins in Saumlaki in the Tanimbar Islands and finishes in Ambon. You dive Larat and Fordate, Marsela and Wetan, Babar, Dawera and Dawelor and the Sermata group, then cross into the Banda Sea for Suanggi or Manuk and a final day near the mouth of Ambon Bay.
Starting in the far southeast means the most remote reefs come first, while you are fresh and the expedition feel is strongest. Days pass between islands that rarely see visitors, with big fish numbers, sharks on the walls and village visits on Babar and Sermata. The trip then builds toward the Banda Sea's open water and a hammerhead or sea snake day before Ambon.
