This one-way expedition runs from Sorong to Kaimana along West Papua's remote southwest coast. It starts in the Dampier Strait and Penemu, spends three days in Misool, then continues to Pisang Island, Fakfak and the Kiti-Kiti waterfall, and two days in Triton Bay before a possible whale shark encounter at the Bitsjara fishing platforms.
Triton Bay is the draw: soft corals in colours that look painted, sea fans crowding every ledge and reef species you will not see further north. The coast between Misool and Kaimana feels empty in the best way, with Pisang's quiet reefs and a waterfall that pours straight into the sea at Momon. The final morning may bring whale sharks feeding beneath the bagans.
