This specialty course teaches you how to safely plan and execute non-penetration and limited-penetration wreck dives, navigate around submerged structures, use reels and lifelines, and research historic dive sites.
What You Will Learn & Practice
- Wreck Navigation & Mapping: Learn pre-dive research techniques, charting wreck layouts, surveying features, and using slates for underwater mapping.
- Line Handling & Reel Techniques: Master line deployment, tie-offs, directional markers, and reel management on land before executing skills underwater.
- Specialized Wreck Equipment: Practice using primary and backup dive lights, cutting devices, reels, and safety marker buoys under varied visibility conditions.
- Hazard Management & Emergency Protocols: Understand silt-out management, light failure procedures, disorientation prevention, and safe protocols for limited-penetration swim-throughs within ambient light zones.

Itinerario
Phase 1: Online Theory (Completed Prior to In-Person Training)
- Complete online SDI Wreck Diver e-Learning modules covering maritime history, wreck research, mapping techniques, reel/line handling safety, and hazards.
Day 1: Onsite Theory Revision, Land Practice & Wreck Dives 1 & 2
- 08:00 AM – Onsite Revision & Equipment Setup
- Meet at Warrior Dive Adventure for e-learning review, gear assembly, reel/line handling practice on land, and a detailed wreck dive planning briefing.
- 09:30 AM – Wreck Dive 1 (Surveying, Mapping & Outer Hull Navigation)
- Execute a controlled descent on a local wreck site. Practice navigating the exterior structure, mapping the wreck layout, and identifying potential hazards and entry points.
- 12:00 PM – Surface Interval & Mapping Review
- Debrief Dive 1, refine underwater wreck maps, calculate surface intervals, and review line-handling protocols.
- 01:30 PM – Wreck Dive 2 (Line Handling, Silt Prevention & Emergency Protocols)
- Execute non-penetration wreck navigation, deployment of life lines and reels, managing limited visibility/silt-out scenarios, and buddy contact protocols.
- 03:30 PM – Gear Care & Certification Processing
- Wash and rinse all dive equipment, review dive logs with your instructor, and process your official SDI Wreck Diver digital certification.
