What You Will Learn & Practice
- Regulators & BCDs: Understand the internal mechanics of first and second-stage regulators, buoyancy compensators, and alternate air sources, including routine maintenance and basic repairs.
- Exposure Suits: Learn how wetsuits and dry suits function, material options, and methods for minor suit care and field patch repairs.
- Cylinders & Valves: Study cylinder construction, valve operation, transportation guidelines, and visual inspection standards.
- Accessories & Computers: Explore dive computers, instrumentation, and accessory maintenance to extend the lifespan of your personal gear.
- Field Troubleshooting: Gain practical skills to perform quick, basic equipment fixes and gear adjustments before or between dives.

- Phase 1: Digital E-Learning (Prior to Arrival)
- Complete the online SDI Equipment Specialist e-Learning modules, learning the fundamentals of scuba gear physics, high-pressure systems, materials, and maintenance concepts.
- Day 1: Classroom & Hands-On Gear Workshop
- 09:00 AM – Orientation & Gear Principles: Meet at the dive center workshop for an introduction to diving equipment design, material selection (brass, titanium, neoprene), and air delivery systems.
- 10:30 AM – First & Second Stage Regulator Systems: Hands-on breakdown of open vs. balanced regulator designs, diaphragm vs. piston systems, $O_2$ clean concepts, and identifying common point-of-failure issues.
- 12:30 PM – Lunch Break
- 01:15 PM – BCDs, Cylinders & Valve Assemblies: Practice inspecting scuba cylinders, understanding hydrostatic/visual inspection requirements, servicing BCD dump valves, and fixing inflator leaks.
- 02:45 PM – Field Maintenance, Save-A-Dive Kits & Troubleshooting: Master basic field repairs: replacing broken mask straps, replacing high/low-pressure hoses, changing standard O-rings, and building an effective "Save-A-Dive" kit.
- 04:00 PM – Equipment Care, Storage & Certification: Review long-term equipment storage practices, post-dive rinsing techniques, complete final assessment review, and process your official SDI Equipment Specialist certification.
