Dive with Diving Indo
Padang Bai is a picturesque harbour town on Bali’s east coast and one of the island’s most diverse dive destinations. Diving in Padang Bai offers a wide range of experiences, from calm coral reefs and macro-rich sites to advanced dives with sharks, strong currents, and dramatic underwater topography.
This area is well known for turtles, reef sharks, vibrant coral gardens, and unusual critters. Dive sites such as Blue Lagoon, Jepun, and the Jetty are suitable for Open Water and Advanced divers, while Gili Tepekong, Gili Mimpang, and Gili Biaha are reserved for experienced divers due to challenging conditions.
All dives in Padang Bai are accessed by traditional jukung outrigger boats, keeping surface intervals short and dives efficient.
Padang Bai Dive Sites
Blue Lagoon
Depth: 5–30 metres
Blue Lagoon is one of the most popular dive sites in Padang Bai and suitable for all certification levels. The site features a gentle slope on one side and a wall on the other, with excellent coral coverage and a high diversity of tropical reef fish. Visibility is usually good, making it an ideal first dive of the day.
Jepun
Depth: 10–25 metres
Jepun is a favourite among macro enthusiasts. Ribbon eels, mantis shrimp, nudibranchs, and other small critters are commonly spotted here. A small sunken fishing boat creates an artificial wreck, attracting moray eels, large groupers, and occasionally reef sharks.
The Jetty
Depth: 5–18 metres
The Jetty is one of Bali’s best muck and critter diving sites. The pillars beneath the jetty host frogfish, pipefish, cuttlefish, flying gurnards, mantis shrimp, and a wide variety of nudibranchs. Surge can be present, so dives are conducted only when conditions allow.
