The schedule is intentionally intensive to build muscle memory and instinctual responses.
Day 1-2: Foundations & Self-Rescue
- Morning: Orientation and review of eLearning. Discussion on the psychology of rescue and identifying diver stress.
- Afternoon: Confined water skill sessions. Practice self-rescue techniques, assisting tired and panicked divers at the surface, and managing equipment malfunctions.
Day 3: Emergency Management
- Morning: Diving from shore or boat. Practice underwater skills: searching for a missing diver and surfacing an unresponsive diver.
- Afternoon: Managing complications at the surface, including "egress" (getting a victim out of the water) and providing emergency oxygen.
Day 4-5: The Rescue Scenarios
- Morning: Emergency First Response (EFR) review or integration.
- Full Day: This is where it all comes together. Your instructors will stage realistic "unannounced" scenarios. You must act as a team to manage the scene, coordinate a search, perform a rescue, and provide post-rescue care.
- Final Afternoon: Final exam review, logbook signing, and graduation.

Certification: Must be certified as a PADI (Junior) Adventure Diver (with the Underwater Navigation Adventure Dive completed) or a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or equivalent).
First Aid Training: Must have proof of Emergency First Response (EFR) Primary and Secondary Care training (CPR and First Aid) completed within the last 24 months. (Note: EFR training can be booked as an add-on to this course).
A completed PADI Medical Statement is required. If any "Yes" answers are marked, a physician's written clearance is mandatory.
