Note: The Divemaster course is a professional internship program typically completed over 2 to 4 weeks depending on your schedule and current logbook experience.
Week 1: Knowledge Development & Demonstration-Quality Skills
- Days 1–2 (Orientation & Skill Circuit): Introduction to dive center operations, equipment maintenance, and logistics. Pool sessions focusing on perfecting the 24 basic scuba skills to demonstration-quality standard.
- Days 3–5 (Theory & Stamina Assessments): Independent study reviews covering dive physics, physiology, equipment, and environment. Complete watermanship assessments, including the 400m swim, 15-minute tread, 800m snorkel, 100m tired diver tow, and equipment exchange.
Week 2: Practical Workshops & Mapping
- Days 6–8 (Dive Site Mapping & Briefing Workshops): Map an open-water dive site in Cancun (depths, currents, entry/exit points, and hazards). Practice delivering professional dive site briefings and leading buddy teams.
- Days 9–10 (Pro Workshops): Hands-on training in search and recovery patterns, knot tying, lift bag deployment, deep dive scenario management, and emergency action planning.
Week 3–4: Practical Application & Real-World Internship
- Days 11–15 (Assisting Student Diver Courses): Shadow instructors during actual Open Water, Advanced, and Rescue Diver courses. Learn how to manage student logistics, evaluate underwater positioning, and handle panic or buoyancy issues.
- Days 16–20 (Guiding Certified Divers & Final Evaluation): Lead certified divers on guided reef and MUSA dives. Manage boat logistics, conduct dive briefings, supervise divers in the water, pass final exams, and process your professional rating.
