Before starting the Rescue Diver course, you must generally:

• Be certified as an Advanced Open Water Diver (or equivalent, e.g., Advanced Adventurer SSI) and have completed an underwater orientation dive.
• Have completed first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training within the last 24 months (e.g., the Emergency First Response (EFR) course). If not, this training is often integrated into or offered before the start of the Rescue course.
• Be at least 12 years old (with restrictions for Junior Rescue Divers).
