This one-way expedition leaves Ambon and heads southeast through the Forgotten Islands to Saumlaki in the Tanimbar group. After a first day at Suanggi or Manuk, the route threads through Sermata, Dawera and Dawelor, Babar, Marsela and Wetan, then the Tanimbar reefs of Fordate, Larat and Saumlaki.
Very few boats dive these islands, and it shows. Reefs carry heavy fish biomass with little fishing pressure, sharks turn up often on the Sermata walls, and many sites may never have been dived before. Village visits on Sermata and Babar add a rare look at island cultures that have changed little, and the Tanimbar dives mix Banda and Arafura Sea species.
